Roberto Bettega

Roberto Bettega

Roberto Bettega, nicknamed 'Bobby Goal', was one of the most elegant and efficient strikers in Italian football in the 1970s and 1980s. An absolute idol of Juventus, with whom he played for more than a decade, he stood out for his refined technique, skill in aerial play and the goal-scoring instinct that made him a reference among Italian center-forwards of his generation. Born on December 27, 1950 in Turin, Bettega grew up in the Juventus environment and quickly became one of the pillars of the Bianconero attack. After a temporary loan while still young, he returned to the club and experienced his best phase in the 1970s, playing in teams that dominated Serie A and competed on the main European stages. His career was marked by a serious lung disease contracted in the early 1970s, which threatened to end his football career. However, his recovery was complete, and Bettega returned to playing at a high level for many years, becoming an even greater idol for overcoming adversity with determination and class. For the Italian National Team, Bettega was a protagonist in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, scoring five goals and leading the Azzurri attack in a campaign that ended with Italy in fourth place. After retiring as a player, he remained linked to Juventus as a manager and ambassador, being one of the greatest names in the club's history.
