Roger Hunt was born in Golborne, England, on July 20, 1938, and died in 2021. A fast and opportunistic forward, he became one of the greatest goalscorers in Liverpool's history. At Liverpool, between 1959 and 1969, he scored 285 goals in 492 matches, the second highest number in the club's history, behind only Ian Rush. He was a key player in the Second Division title in 1961-62 and in the English Championships of 1963-64 and 1965-66, as well as the FA Cup of 1965. For the English national team, he played 34 matches and scored 18 goals. He was World Cup champion in 1966, playing in all matches and scoring 3 goals, two of them against France.
