Ronald Koeman
Ronald Koeman is one of the greatest defenders in the history of European football, revolutionizing the role of the defender with exceptional ability in game-building and devastating free-kick strikes. Born in 1963 in Zaandam, Netherlands, he was a key player at PSV Eindhoven, European champions in 1988, and at the legendary Barcelona under Johan Cruyff. With the Dutch national team, he became champion of the 1988 European Championship, in a historic team alongside Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard. His free-kick goal in extra time of the 1992 Champions League final, with Barcelona against Sampdoria, is one of the most iconic moments in continental football. With over 250 goals scored throughout his career, he is arguably the defender who scored the most goals in European professional football.
