At Deportivo, Makaay was La Liga's top scorer in the 2002-03 season, which motivated his transfer to Bayern Munich in 2003. At Bayern, he became one of the greatest foreign strikers in the club's history, winning several German titles before ending his career at Feyenoord, his beloved club.
