Rúben Neves
Rúben Neves was born in Mozelos, Portugal, and joined FC Porto's youth categories at the age of eight. He made his debut for the main squad on August 15, 2014, at the age of 17, against Marítimo, becoming the youngest player to play for the club in over three decades. In the 2015-16 season, he was instrumental in Porto's Portuguese Championship title, playing 31 matches in the Portuguese First Division. Days later, at 18 years and 221 days old, he became the youngest player to debut as captain in a Champions League match, surpassing the record previously held by Rafael van der Vaart. In 2017, he transferred to Wolverhampton Wanderers, in England, for approximately £15.8 million. At the English club, he played 253 matches and scored 30 goals, becoming champion of the EFL Championship in his first season, which secured promotion to the Premier League. In 2023, he signed with Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, in a transfer valued at £47 million, becoming one of the main signings in Saudi football. A defensive midfielder by origin, with great passing ability and medium-range finishing skills, Neves is considered one of the most complete Portuguese midfielders of his generation.
