Rubén Sosa

Rubén Sosa

Rubén Sosa was one of the most renowned Uruguayan strikers in Italian football between the late 1980s and early 1990s. Quick and skillful, he gained fame mainly for his performances at Lazio and Inter Milan, where he stood out as a highly reliable penalty taker. He began his career at Danubio in Uruguay before moving to Italian football, where he had an initial unimpressive spell at Napoli, still in the era of Diego Maradona at the club. It was at Lazio and later at Inter Milan that he established himself as one of the most beloved foreigners in Serie A during that period. He represented the Uruguayan national team in various international competitions, including the 1990 World Cup, and ended his career with spells at clubs in Argentina, Mexico and Japan before retiring.
