Saeed Al-Owairan is a former Saudi Arabian striker born in Riyadh. He spent his entire club career at Al-Shabab, in the Saudi capital, and became one of the most famous players in the history of the country's football. He became world-famous at the 1994 World Cup in the United States. In the 1-0 victory over Belgium in the group stage, he received the ball in his own half, drove forward at speed, dribbled past several opponents and scored one of the most remembered goals in the history of the World Cups. The victory helped Saudi Arabia reach the quarter-finals in its first World Cup, when it was eliminated by Sweden. In the same year, he was elected Asia's Best Player.
