Sandro Mazzola
Alessandro 'Sandro' Mazzola is one of the greatest legends of Italian football, eternal symbol of Internazionale of Milan and the Azzurra. Son of the legendary Valentino Mazzola, captain of Grande Torino tragically deceased in the Superga air disaster in 1949, when Sandro was only six years old, he carried the illustrious surname and built an even greater story. An attacking midfielder of rare elegance, tactical intelligence and precision in finishing, Mazzola was the brain of Helenio Herrera's Great Inter in the 1960s, one of the most powerful teams in the history of European football. Alongside names such as Jair, Facchetti and Suárez, Inter won two European Champions Cups and two Intercontinental Cups in that golden period. For the Italian national team, he participated in the World Cups of 1966 and 1970, being runner-up in the latter in Mexico. He won the title of the 1968 Euros, disputed in Italy. His entire professional career was dedicated exclusively to Internazionale, where he played for 17 consecutive years.
