Sepp Maier

Josef 'Sepp' Maier is considered the greatest goalkeeper in German football history, having defended Bayern Munich for over two decades and becoming an icon of the West Germany national team. Nicknamed 'Die Katze von Anzing' (The Cat of Anzing), he was known for his feline reflexes and impeccable positioning. He won the 1974 World Cup and the 1972 Euros, forming with Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller the backbone of one of the greatest teams in history. His career was tragically interrupted by a car accident in 1979.
