Sérgio Conceição
Sérgio Conceição was one of the best Portuguese wingers-midfielders of his generation, recognized for his tactical intelligence, technical quality and leadership on the pitch. A native of Coimbra, Portugal, he built a prominent career in Europe's biggest clubs before becoming a successful coach. His most remarkable spell as a player was at Lazio, where he was a key figure in the club's conquest of the Italian Serie A Scudetto in the 1999-2000 season, one of the most celebrated titles in the Roman club's history. His game reading and ability to play both as a winger and creative midfielder were his differentiating factors. With the Portuguese national team, he accumulated more than 56 caps, being an important figure in Portuguese campaigns in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including participations in Euro 2000 and the World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea. After retiring from playing, he became a successful coach at FC Porto, where he won multiple Portuguese titles and the UEFA Europa League in 2019-20, establishing himself as one of the most respected managers in European football.
