Sonny Anderson

Sonny Anderson is a Brazilian striker born in Goiatuba (GO) who built a successful career mainly in European football. He played for Vasco da Gama and Guarani before transferring young to Swiss football. It was in French football that he established himself: he shone at Olympique de Marseille and Monaco, where he was French champion and top scorer in Ligue 1 in 1996-97. His form led Barcelona to sign him in 1997, and in Spain he won the championship and the Copa del Rey in 1998. Back in France in 1999, he became an idol at Lyon, being a key player in the club's first two French titles in history (2002 and 2003) and initiating the era of Lyonnaise hegemony. He ended his career after spells at Villarreal and Qatari football.
