Tesourinha

Osmar Fortes Barcellos, known as Tesourinha, was born in Porto Alegre in 1921 and played as a right winger. He played for Internacional from 1939 to 1949 and won eight Gaucho Championships with the club. Later, he transferred to Vasco da Gama, where he became Carioca champion in 1950. A serious meniscus injury kept him out of the 1950 World Cup. In 1952, he joined Grêmio. For a time, he was incorrectly cited as the club's first Black player; the pioneer was Armando Luiz Antunes, in 1912. He ended his career at Nacional de Porto Alegre in 1957. For the Brazilian National Team, he played 23 matches and scored 10 goals, notably winning the 1949 Copa América. He died in Porto Alegre on June 17, 1979, at age 57, from stomach cancer.
