Ubaldo Fillol
Ubaldo Fillol is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of Argentine and South American football. Nicknamed 'El Pato', he built most of his career at River Plate, the club for which he became an idol over more than a decade. He was the starter for the Argentine national team in the conquest of the 1978 FIFA World Cup, held in his own country, being one of the defensive pillars of that team managed by César Luis Menotti. His performance in the tournament is still remembered today as one of the best by an Argentine goalkeeper in World Cups. In addition to the world title, Fillol also played in the 1974 and 1982 World Cups, and had stints in Brazilian football, defending Flamengo in the mid-1980s. He ended his career as a technical reference and leader for subsequent generations of Argentine goalkeepers.
