Uli Stielike
Uli Stielike was born in Ketsch, West Germany, on November 15, 1954. He played as a midfielder and libero and stood out for his game reading and tactical discipline. At Borussia Mönchengladbach, he won three consecutive Bundesliga titles (1975, 1976, and 1977) and the 1975 UEFA Cup. In 1977, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he won three La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and the 1985 UEFA Cup. Because he played abroad, he was left out of the 1978 World Cup by the German federation. Nevertheless, he was champion of the 1980 European Championship and runner-up in the 1982 World Cup. In the semifinal against France, he missed a penalty kick in the shootout, but West Germany advanced. As a coach, he managed the national teams of Switzerland, Ivory Coast, and South Korea, which he led to the final of the 2015 Asian Cup.
