Ulises de la Cruz was an Ecuadorian right-back of great prominence, known for his runs down the right side and his solidarity with the indigenous communities of his country. He played in the Premier League with Aston Villa and in Scotland for Hibernian, being one of the Ecuadorian players with the greatest international projection.
