Unai Simón

Unai Simón is a Spanish goalkeeper born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the Basque Country, developed through the youth categories of Athletic Bilbao, a club to which he remained faithful throughout his professional career, in line with the club's policy of using only Basque players. He made his professional debut in 2018 and quickly became the absolute starter in Athletic's goal, surpassing 200 matches for the club over the following years. For the Spanish national team, he became a regular starter from 2020, competing in Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024, a tournament in which Spain won the championship with Simón playing in almost all matches.
