Valeri Karpin was one of the greatest Russian players of his generation, standing out for Valencia and Spartak Moscow with refined vision and technique. Considered by some experts as the best Russian player in history, he accumulated more than 400 matches in his European career. He became a coach after retiring, eventually managing the Russian national team.
