Vavá
Edvaldo Izídio Neto, Vavá, was one of the greatest center forwards in the history of Brazilian football and a fundamental piece in Brazil's first two World Cup titles. Born in Recife in 1934, Vavá was immortalized by scoring in the 1958 World Cup final against Sweden — in which Brazil won 5-2 — and again in the 1962 final against Czechoslovakia. He was the first player in history to score in two consecutive World Cup finals. In the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, he scored 5 goals in total, becoming one of the tournament's great goalscorers. Alongside Pelé, Garrincha and Didi, Vavá composed the most victorious generation of Brazilian football. After retiring, he became a sports commentator and remained connected to football until his death on January 19, 2002.
