Waldir Peres

Waldir Peres was one of the main Brazilian goalkeepers of the 1970s and 1980s, known for his reliable performance and for being the starter for the Brazilian national team at the 1982 World Cup, in Spain. Discovered by Ferroviária de Araraquara, he built a solid career in São Paulo football, with notable stints at Ponte Preta, São Paulo, and Corinthians, where he became one of the most respected goalkeepers in Brazilian national football during his era. After retirement, Waldir Peres remained connected to football as a commentator and goalkeeper coach, being remembered by fans as one of the historic guardians of Brazilian football. He passed away in 2017.
