Casagrande
Walter Casagrande Júnior was one of the most striking strikers in Brazilian football during the 1980s. Discovered by Corinthians, he became a symbol of the Democracia Corinthiana, a political-sports movement that marked the club's history. Tall and strong, but with good technique, Casagrande was twice Paulista champion with Corinthians in 1982 and 1983, forming a historic partnership with Sócrates both on and off the field. He represented the Brazilian National Team and was part of the squad for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. In Europe, he wore the shirts of Porto, Ascoli, and Torino, where he had a great period in Italy, winning the Coppa Italia in 1993 with the Turin club. After retiring from professional football, he became one of the most well-known sports commentators on Brazilian television.
