Wladimir Rodrigues dos Santos was born in Santo André (SP) on September 29, 1954. A left-back, he is one of the greatest idols in Corinthians' history, a club for which he played 806 matches, one of the highest numbers of games in the club's history. He was Campeonato Paulista champion with Corinthians in 1977, 1979, 1982 and 1983. The 1977 title ended a drought of more than 22 years without state championship conquests for the club. He was also known for his role in the Democracia Corintiana (Corinthian Democracy), a democratic management movement of the squad in the early 1980s, alongside Sócrates, Casagrande and Zenon, and for his performance in defense of athletes' rights.
