Wolfgang Overath
German midfielder who spent practically his entire professional career at 1. FC Cologne, being one of the most emblematic players in the history of the club and German football in the 1960s and 1970s. Left-footed with precise passing and a refined free-kick technique, he was a fundamental piece of West Germany's national team that won the 1974 World Cup, held at home, as well as being World Cup runner-up in 1966 and European champion in 1972. After retiring from playing, Overath remained connected to 1. FC Cologne and German football, being remembered as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation in Europe.
