Gianfranco Zola is considered one of the most technical and captivating players to ever wear Chelsea's shirt, being elected the club's greatest player by the fans themselves in a vote held in 2003. The Italian enchanted the English public between 1996 and 2003 with his surprising ability, bewildering dribbles and excellent free kick execution. Formed in Nuoro's youth categories, he flourished alongside Diego Maradona at Napoli before moving to Chelsea via Parma. Despite his short stature, he was one of the most difficult players to mark of his generation.
