History
Associação Atlética Luziânia was founded on December 13, 1926, when the city was still called Santa Luzia, on the initiative of sports pioneer Manoel Gonçalves da Cruz. The club was born under the name Associação Atlética Luziana. Over the decades it had several names: Luziânia Esporte Clube (1959), Luziânia Futebol Clube (1981) and, from 1995 onwards, returned to the original name Associação Atlética Luziânia. In the Brasiliense Championship, the club made its debut in 1964 and finished as runner-up. After a long period of difficulties between the 1980s and 2000s, Azulão experienced its most successful phase, with state titles in 2014 and 2016, as well as the JK Cup in 2012. The performance in the Brasiliense Championship earned the club participations in the Copa do Brasil in 2013, 2015 and 2017, always with elimination in the early stages. Luziânia plays its matches at Serra do Lago stadium, with capacity for around 21 thousand people.
