History

Founded in 1926 in the working-class neighborhood of Próspera, in Criciúma, Associação Atlética Próspera was born linked to the community of coal miners who formed the region. The club competed for decades in Catarinense championships, being one of the historic rivals of Criciúma Esporte Clube in municipal disputes. Throughout the 20th century, Próspera established itself as an association with strong local identity, maintaining regular participation in the state divisions of Santa Catarina. With the rise of Criciúma EC to the national scene from the 1980s and 1990s onwards, Próspera began to act more strongly in youth categories and in the state's lower divisions, preserving its centennial tradition in the community.
