AIK Fotboll
Swedish football club based in Solna, in the Stockholm metropolitan area. It is one of the most traditional clubs in Sweden and protagonist of the greatest classic in Swedish football, the Stockholm Derby, against Djurgården IF.
History
Founded in 1891 as a multi-sport club, AIK (Allmänna Idrottsklubben) developed its football section in the late nineteenth century, quickly becoming one of the dominant forces in Swedish football in the first half of the twentieth century. The club has played its home matches at Friends Arena since 2012, after decades of playing at the traditional Rasunda Stadium, also in Solna. The rivalry with Djurgården IF, known as Tvillingderbyt or the Stockholm Derby, is considered the greatest classic in Swedish capital football. Beyond the national titles won throughout its history, AIK has produced several players who have stood out in the Swedish national team, and maintains one of the largest and most organized fan bases in the country, the Black Army. In the 2000s and 2010s, the club remained competitive in Allsvenskan, alternating seasons of success with periods of rebuilding, but always remaining among the clubs with the largest fan base and tradition in Sweden.
