Club Alianza Lima

Club Alianza Lima is one of the most traditional and popular clubs in Peru, with historical roots in the popular neighborhood of La Victoria, in Lima. Founded in 1901, the club is recognized for its popular identity and for having revealed some of the greatest stars of Peruvian football.

History

Founded in 1901 as Sport Alianza, the club is one of the oldest in Peru and accumulated numerous Peruvian Championship titles. In 1987, the club suffered one of the greatest tragedies in South American football, when a plane carrying several players crashed in the Pacific Ocean, killing almost the entire squad. Rebuilt with courage, Alianza Lima continued its victorious trajectory and remains one of the largest clubs in Peru, directly rivaling Universitario de Deportes in the country's most important classic.
