RSC Anderlecht is Belgium's most successful club and one of the most traditional in European football. Founded in 1908 in a suburb of Brussels, the club has accumulated national records and European titles that place it among the great institutions of continental football. The purple and white colors are recognized throughout the continent and the club has a glorious history that spans decades.

History

Anderlecht won the UEFA Cup in 1983, defeating Benfica in the final, and reached the final again in 1984, losing to Tottenham. The club won two titles of the former European Cup Winners' Cup, in 1976 and 1978, at the peak of its continental hegemony. On a national level, Anderlecht has accumulated 35 Belgian Championship titles, being by far the most winning club in the country. World-class players such as Paul Van Himst, Luc Nilis, and Romelu Lukaku have represented the club throughout its history.
