Andirá Sports Club
Founded in 1964 by the Dantas family, one of the most traditional families in Acre, Andirá is one of the historic clubs of Acre football. Its name comes from the Tupi word 'andyrá', which means bat.
History
Andirá Sports Club was founded on November 1st, 1964, in the capital Rio Branco, by members of the Dantas family. In its early years, the club's uniform consisted of black and white colors, reflecting a sober and traditional look among Acre teams of that time. In 2006, under the presidency of Gilberto Braga, the club incorporated green into its uniform, as a tribute to the Amazon rainforest and rubber production, an activity historically important for the state of Acre. Throughout its history, Andirá competed three times in the Brazilian Championship Series C, with its best result being a 37th place finish in the 2001 edition. In the Acre Championship, the club was runner-up in 2007, and also won the state Second Division title on September 29, 2015, by defeating ADESG 4-2 on aggregate in the final. The club continues to compete in competitions organized by the Acre State Football Federation, playing its matches at Arena da Floresta, the main football stadium in Rio Branco.
