History

Founded in 1957 in the neighborhood of Sarandí, district of Avellaneda, Arsenal Fútbol Club experienced meteoric growth from the 2000s, largely due to a partnership with executive Julio Grondona, who lent his name to the club's stadium. In 2007, Arsenal reached the peak of its history by winning the Copa Sudamericana, defeating América de Cali in the final, and in 2008 won the Recopa Sudamericana against Boca Juniors. The club also regularly competed in the Argentine Primera División, alternating successful seasons with periods of rebuilding, establishing itself as an example of a small club that achieved significant continental accomplishments.
