Athletico Paranaense Women

Women's football department of Club Athletico Paranaense, created to represent the club in state and national women's football competitions, following the professionalization movement of Brazilian women's football promoted by the CBF starting from 2019.

History

Athletico Paranaense's women's team was created in 2019, partly driven by the CBF's requirement that clubs participating in its major men's competitions also maintain active women's football departments. Since its foundation, the team has trained at CT do Caju, the club's training center in Curitiba, and has competed in both the Paraná Women's Championship and the national divisions organized by the CBF. In 2021, the team achieved promotion to Series A1 of the Brazilian Women's Championship by winning Series A2 that year, a result that consolidated the team among the main forces of women's football in Paraná. Since then, the Hurricane has continued competing in national competitions, also serving as a showcase for developing new athletes in the state of Paraná.
