Club Athletico Paranaense
Club Athletico Paranaense, the Hurricane, is the biggest club in Paraná and one of the main forces in Brazilian football. Based in Curitiba, the club modernized football in Paraná and across Brazil with the construction of Arena da Baixada, one of the most modern stadiums in Brazil. It is a two-time winner of the Brazilian Cup and won the South American Cup.
History
Founded in 1924, Club Athletico Paranaense took decades to establish itself on the national stage, but in the 1990s and 2000s emerged as one of the main forces in Brazilian football. The club won the Brazilian Championship in 2001, the Brazilian Cup in 2019 and 2021, and the South American Cup in 2018 and 2022, becoming the club from Paraná with the greatest continental prominence. Arena da Baixada hosted matches during the 2014 World Cup, reinforcing the club's importance to Brazilian football.
