History

Founded on April 20, 1943, the Associação Atlética Anapolina grew alongside the city of Anápolis and became the largest club in inland Goiás. The nickname Rooster of the Cerrado reflects the grit and determination that mark the club's identity throughout its history. Anapolina experienced its greatest moments of national prestige in the 1970s and 1980s, when it competed in the Brazilian Championship and faced major clubs across the country. Jonas Duarte Stadium is the main stage for the club's matches and welcomes the passionate fans from the region. On the state scene, Anapolina won titles in the Goiás Championship and established itself as one of the great rivals of Goiás and Atlético Goianiense. The derbies against these teams are the most anticipated moments in regional football. In recent years, the club has oscillated between divisions of Goiás football, but keeps alive the tradition and hope of returning to the national stage with greater prominence.
