Atlético Mineiro 1971 was the champion of the first edition of the National Championship of Clubs, the current Campeonato Brasileiro. The team was led by Telê Santana and had Dario, known as Dadá Maravilha, as its main forward.

History

Clube Atlético Mineiro was founded on March 25, 1908, in Belo Horizonte, by students linked to amateur football in the city. Over the decades, it became the greatest winner of the Campeonato Mineiro and one of the main forces in Brazilian football. In 1971, the National Championship of Clubs brought together, for the first time in unified format, the country's main teams. Atlético, coached by Telê Santana, finished the competition in first place and won the inaugural title. The forward Dario, known as Dadá Maravilha, was the great offensive name of the campaign. The 1971 title is remembered by the fans as the starting point of the club's trajectory in national competitions, and Galo's team from that year remains as a reference in the memory of Minas Gerais football.
