Atlético Mineiro 2014

Atlético Mineiro 2014 was the team that followed up the 2013 Copa Libertadores title. They won the Recopa Sudamericana and the Copa do Brasil that year.

History

Clube Atlético Mineiro was founded on March 25, 1908, in Belo Horizonte, and is one of the most traditional clubs in Brazilian football. Its nickname is Galo. In 2013, Atlético won the Copa Libertadores for the first time, defeating Olimpia of Paraguay on penalties. This title gave the club the right to compete in the 2014 Recopa Sudamericana. In 2014, Galo defeated Lanús of Argentina and became Recopa Sudamericana champion. That same year, they conquered the Copa do Brasil by overcoming Cruzeiro in the final, in a decisive Minas Gerais classic. It was the club's first title in this competition. The squad featured players such as fullback Marcos Rocha and striker Jô, who were part of the club's most victorious period in the 21st century.
