History
In 2025, Atlético Mineiro competed in the Copa Sudamericana after being eliminated in the preliminary round of the Copa Libertadores the previous year. The continental campaign was the main focus of the season and led the club to the tournament final. On the state level, Galo won another Campeonato Mineiro, maintaining shared dominance with Cruzeiro in recent decades. In the Campeonato Brasileiro, the team had ups and downs and stayed far from the title fight. The Copa Sudamericana final, held in November 2025 in Asunción, ended in defeat to Lanús on penalties after a goalless draw in regular time, repeating the pattern of continental decisions lost by the club. The team was managed by Cuca during the final stretch of the season, in his third spell at the club, and had Hulk as the main offensive reference.
