Atlético Rio Negro Clube
The Atlético Rio Negro Clube is a club from Boa Vista, capital of Roraima, founded on April 26, 1971. It is two-time champion of the Roraima Championship, with titles in 1991 and 2000, and is known as Galo do Norte.
History
The Atlético Rio Negro Clube was founded on April 26, 1971, in Boa Vista, by Amazonians settled in the capital of Roraima. The founders inherited the name, shield and mascot from Atlético Rio Negro Clube, from Manaus, which explains the similarity between the two clubs. The club was runner-up in the state championship in 1975 and 1984 and won its first Roraima Championship title in 1991. In 2000 it became champion again, already in the professional era of local football. In 1999 and 2001 it finished as runner-up again; in the 2001 final, it lost to Atlético Roraima on penalties. On the national stage, it participated in the Copa Norte in 2000, finishing in 5th place in the overall standings, and in Series C of the 2001 Brazilian Championship, in which it finished in 17th place. In 2001 it also competed in the Brazilian Cup, being eliminated in the first round by São Raimundo-AM. Atlético Rio Negro plays its home matches at Flamarion Vasconcelos Stadium, known as Canarinho, in Boa Vista. In women's football, the club was Roraima champion in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
