Audax Rio de Janeiro Sports Club

A Rio de Janeiro club that gained national prominence by winning the Brazilian Series C Championship in 2016, after a partnership with Portuguesa-RJ.

History

Founded in 1961 in Rio de Janeiro, Audax spent most of its history competing in amateur and youth competitions. The club gained national prominence starting in 2015, when it established a partnership with the Traffic Group and began operating jointly with Portuguesa-RJ, competing in the Carioca Championship and national competitions under the name Audax-Rio. In 2016, the club won the title of the Brazilian Series C Championship, one of the greatest achievements in its history, securing promotion to Series B the following year. The campaign surprised the Brazilian football landscape, given the modest size of the club compared to its opponents. After the end of the partnership with Portuguesa-RJ, Audax faced financial difficulties and drastically reduced its competitive activity, practically disappearing from professional football in the early 2020s.
