History
Austin FC was officially announced in 2019 as the newest franchise of Major League Soccer, becoming the first professional football club in the city of Austin, Texas. The team debuted in the 2021 season, hosting its matches at the newly-built Q2 Stadium, with capacity for approximately 20,500 fans. Despite an irregular start, the club built a passionate fan base, known for their energy in the stands and their mascot Los Verdes. In 2022, Austin FC reached the MLS playoffs for the first time, marking an important competitive advance for the franchise. The club continues to invest in youth development and signings to establish itself among the competitive teams in the league's western conference.
