FK Austria Wien

FK Austria Wien is one of Austria's most traditional clubs, founded in 1911 and based in Vienna. Known as 'The Violets' because of its characteristic uniform, the club is one of the most successful in Austrian football. It participated in various editions of European competitions and is considered the most aristocratic club in the country.

History

Austria Wien dominated Austrian football in the 1920s and 1930s, being one of the first clubs in the country to stand out internationally. The club won numerous titles in the Austrian Bundesliga and participated in memorable editions of European cups. It developed important players such as Matthias Sindelar, considered the greatest Austrian player of all time. The rivalry with Rapid Wien is the most traditional in Austrian football.
