Avaí Football Club

Founded in 1923, Avaí is one of Santa Catarina's most traditional clubs. Three-time state champion, the club has maintained presence in several Serie A seasons of the Brazilian Championship.

History

Avaí was founded in 1923 in Florianópolis as a result of the merger between Avaí Football Club (1913) and Club de Regatas Avaí. It became one of the main clubs in Santa Catarina during the twentieth century, winning several state titles. In the 1990s and 2000s, the club alternated between the first and second division of the Brazilian Championship. The 2010s marked ups and downs, with the Serie B title conquest in 2014, maintaining itself as an important force in southern football.
