Esporte Clube Bahia de Feira is the main football club in Feira de Santana, the second largest city in Bahia and the largest commercial hub in the northeastern interior. Founded in 1955, it represents the sporting pride of a city that calls itself the 'Princess of the Sertão'.
History
Founded in 1955 in the city of Feira de Santana, Esporte Clube Bahia de Feira was born to be the sporting standard-bearer of one of the most important cities in northeastern Brazil. Feira de Santana, known as the 'Princess of the Sertão', is the largest highway junction in the North-Northeast and one of the main economic centers in the interior of Bahia. The club competed in the Bahia Championship for decades, alternating between the main divisions and the access divisions, and became a reference in Bahian football outside the state capital Salvador. The nickname 'Tremendão' refers to the strength and intimidating presence that the team seeks to demonstrate on the field, reflecting the dynamism of the city it represents. Estádio Joia da Princesa, the main sports venue in Feira de Santana, was built to be one of the largest in the interior of Bahia. The stadium has hosted matches of the Bahia Championship and also hosted games from capital teams, being one of the most important sports venues in the state outside Salvador. EC Bahia de Feira participated in editions of the Brazilian Championship Series D, representing the strength of football from the interior of Bahia on the national scene. The club maintains its youth categories and remains a symbol of sports and identity of Feira de Santana.
