Barcelona 1992
Barcelona's 1991-92 side was the peak of the Dream Team assembled by Johan Cruyff. The team won the club's first European Cup in its history in 1992 at Wembley Stadium.
History
Johan Cruyff managed Barcelona from 1988 to 1996 and assembled an attacking team based on ball possession and a three-defender formation. This group became known as the Dream Team and won four consecutive Spanish championships between 1990-91 and 1993-94. The team's greatest achievement came on May 20, 1992, at Wembley. Barcelona defeated Sampdoria 1-0 in the European Cup final, with a goal from Ronald Koeman from a free-kick in extra time. It was the club's first European title of that level in its history. The squad featured names such as Andoni Zubizarreta in goal, Ronald Koeman in defense, Pep Guardiola in midfield, and Hristo Stoichkov and Michael Laudrup in attack. After winning the European title, the team won the 1992 UEFA Super Cup and competed in the Intercontinental Cup, where they lost to São Paulo 2-1 in Tokyo. The cycle ended in 1994 with a 4-0 defeat to Milan in the Champions League final in Athens. Nevertheless, Cruyff's Dream Team is considered a milestone in the club's history, and its playing philosophy influenced generations at Camp Nou.
