Founded in 1908, Barra Mansa Football Club is one of the most traditional clubs in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, in the Médio Paraíba region. The club has competed in national competitions and is recognized by its supporters as the 'Lion of South Fluminense'.

History

Barra Mansa Football Club was founded on November 15, 1908, in the city of Barra Mansa, in the south of the state of Rio de Janeiro, becoming one of the oldest clubs in the region. Throughout the 20th century, the club established itself as the main representative of the city in Fluminense football, regularly competing in championships organized by the Football Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro. The team plays its matches at Estádio Leão do Sul, with a capacity of around 12,000 fans, the venue for important matches in Rio interior football. The club's traditional colors, blue and white, and the lion symbol gave rise to the nickname by which it is better known. In the following decades, Barra Mansa competed in access divisions of the Brazilian Championship, maintaining relevant participation in the football scene of Rio interior, with emphasis on historic disputes against Esporte Clube Siderantim, its main rival in the city.
