History
FC Bayern Munich was founded in 1900. In the mid-1960s, the club formed a historic generation with Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Sepp Maier, under the command of coach Zlatko Čajkovski. After winning the German Cup (DFB-Pokal) in 1966, the team reached the European Cup Winners' Cup final in 1966-67. On May 31, 1967, in Nuremberg, they defeated Rangers of Scotland 1-0 in extra time, with a goal by Franz Roth. The European title inaugurated the winning cycle that would lead Bayern to the European Cups of the 1970s.
