Founded in 1904, Benfica became Portugal's most popular club. The golden era arrived in the 1960s with Eusébio and two European Cups (1961 and 1962). The Stadium of Light, renovated for Euro 2004, is one of Europe's most modern stadiums. The club remains a reference in player development.
