Blumenau Esporte Clube
Blumenau Esporte Clube is a traditional football club from Santa Catarina, one of the oldest in the state. After decades of ups and downs, the club underwent administrative restructuring in the 2020s and returned to compete in national competitions.
History
The club was founded on July 19, 1919, initially under the name Brasil Football Club, later going through the names Recreativo Brasil Esporte Clube and Palmeiras Esporte Clube, until adopting the current name, Blumenau Esporte Clube, in 1980. The colors green, crimson and white symbolize the fusion of two local traditions: Palmeiras, which used green and white, and Olímpico, which used crimson and white, clubs that gave rise to the current identity of BEC. The club gained national prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, when it competed in the Brazilian Championship Serie B, Serie C and Copa do Brasil, a period in which it became one of the main teams in the interior of Santa Catarina. Its historic stadium, Aderbal Ramos da Silva, known as 'Velho Deba', was built between 1955 and 1957 and has a capacity of around 4 thousand supporters. In the 2020s, Blumenau underwent an administrative restructuring process, transforming itself into a Football Limited Company (SAF), resumed its activities in Catarinense football and secured a place in Serie D of the Brazilian Championship 2026.
