History

Founded in 1905 in the traditional Laranjeiras neighborhood, Boavista Sport Club is one of the pioneers of Rio de Janeiro and Brazilian football. Its birth occurred in the early days of the sport in the country, when football was still a novelty in Brazilian cities. In the early years of the twentieth century, Boavista conquered the Rio de Janeiro State Championship, ranking among the major forces of Rio de Janeiro football alongside clubs such as Fluminense and Botafogo. The club was a protagonist in state competitions at a time when Rio de Janeiro football was the main football in Brazil. Throughout the decades, Boavista lost national prominence but maintained its structure and history alive. The club regularly competes in the Rio de Janeiro State Championship in lower divisions, preserving the tradition and memory of a glorious era of Rio de Janeiro football, while also serving as a talent pool for the city's major clubs.
