History

Founded in 1916, FK Bodø/Glimt is the northernmost club in European professional football, located above the Arctic Circle, which makes its summer matches disputed under almost constant sunlight. For decades the club alternated between divisions, until its golden era starting in 2020, when it won its first Eliteserien championship title in history, repeating the feat in 2021 under coach Kjetil Knutsen. Glimt drew European attention with historic victories by large margins, such as the 6-1 victory over Roma in the Europa League in 2021. The club became a symbol of competitive and offensive Nordic football, regularly competing in UEFA European competitions.
