Botafogo Women's
Women's team of Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, reactivated in the early 2020s after periods without competitive activity. Competes in the main divisions of women's football in Rio de Janeiro and at the national level.
History
Botafogo has had intermittent participation in women's football throughout its history, without maintaining a permanent structure for much of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The most recent revival of the project occurred in the early 2020s, following the professionalization movement of the sport among major Brazilian clubs. With the restructuring, the black-and-white team began competing in state championships in Rio de Janeiro and sought access to national divisions organized by the CBF, assembling a squad with female players from different regions of the country. Beyond competitive performance, the club has invested in the development of women's youth categories, seeking to create a long-term policy similar to other departments of Rio de Janeiro football. The project is still in its consolidation phase, with the goal of establishing Botafogo Women's as a permanent competitive reference in Brazilian women's football.
